Exploring The Ausangate Mountain: Since the Inca period, the Ausangate mountain has been and is currently one of the most important mountains, because in the Andean concept, according to the Andean belief, the mountain represents one of the main gods and is also the cult of contemporary Christians. It is also called Apu Ausangate. The 5-day Ausangate Cusco tour we offer is designed so you can get to know the wonderful alpine landscape on a tourist route that has not been very publicized, you can admire the rural communities, beautiful views of the mountains and lagoons with different colors. , Andean camelids live in their natural habitats, such as llamas, alpacas and vicuñas.

Detailed Itinerary


  DAY 1  CUSCO - TINQUI – UPIS

To Tinqui: We leave Cusco very early, pick him up from his hotel in the city of Cusco, and then head southeast of the city. It takes approximately three hours of private transportation to reach the small village of Tinki (3800 meters / 12,464 feet). . We traveled through beautiful landscapes and several traditional villages such as Urcos, Cattca and Ocangate. After lunch in Tinqu i, we will start the trek.The first three hours will be an unforgettable experience as we travel through the mountains of the Sierra del Vilcanota.From now on, if the weather allows, we can glimpse snowy mountains or Apu Ausangate. We will walk another two hours until we reach the hot springs of Upis, where we will spend the night.

Trekking:  4 - 5 hrs Distance: 8 km / 4.9 miles  Altitude: 4400 masl.

 Meals:  breakfast, lunch, dinner 



  DAY 2  UPIS - AUSANGATE LAKE Q'OCHA

To The Lagoon Ausangate Q'ocha:In the morning, we will cross the Arapa Pass (4,850 meters / 15,908 feet), which is one of the highest points of the hike. From here, we will continue descending through the valley for 3 and a half hours, through the green lagoon Puka Q'ocha, until we reach the turquoise waters of the lagoon Jatun Puqa Q'ocha. Then we will climb the second channel of Apuchata (4,900 meters / 16,072 feet), overlooking the impressive Laguna Ausangate Q'ocha and its turquoise waters. The lagoon feeds on the melted snow of the snowy Ausangate. We will camp here the next night.

Trekking: 6 to 7 hrs Distance: 11 km / 6.83 miles  Altitude: 4900 masl.

 Meals:  breakfast, lunch, dinner 



  DAY 3  AUSANGATE LAKE Q'OCHA - QAMPA

To El Paso Palomani: From the lagoon we climb again towards Paso Palomani (5200 meters / 1,056 feet), the highest point of the hike. From the opening we follow the path that leads to the valley, where we can rest and have lunch. In the afternoon, we can admire the snowy Tres Picos and Punta Puca. We will continue through the wide green meadow Pampa Jutunpata Valley and Q'ampa River Valley. We will spend the third night in the area.

Trekking: 7 to 8 hrs Distance: 15 km / 9.32 miles  Altitude: 5200 masl.

 Meals:  breakfast, lunch, dinner 



  DAY 4  Q'AMPA - PACCHANTA

To EL Paso Q'ampa: Early in the morning, we started walking, passing through the small village of Q'ampa, and then driving northwest to the last passage of this hike: Step Q'ampa (5,000 meters / 16,400 feet). Once again we will have the opportunity to observe the lagoons of different colors and have lunch near the Laguna Q'oma Q'ocha. We will walk for a few hours before arriving at the small village of Pacchanta. We can enjoy a few hours in the hot springs and even taste a well-deserved beer. We will set up camp near Pacchanta and will have the afternoon free to explore this interesting Andean village. (You can choose to stay in a basic hotel tonight).

 Meals:  breakfast, lunch 


Trekking:  5 hrs Distance: 7 km / 4.3 miles  Altitude: 5000 masl.


  DAY 5  PACCHANTA - CUSCO

Return to Cusco: It takes 3 hours to walk to Tinqu i, where we will have time to explore this traditional Andean village, and then return to Cusco by private transport, arriving at approximately 6:00 pm , hotel drop off.
